Garrett A. Foster is an Emmy Award–winning storyteller, writer, editor and Celebrant/officiant. A graduate of the Celebrant Foundation & Institute, he knows how to listen to your stories and transform them into one-of-a-kind ceremonies that will make you laugh, cry and never forget the most special time in your life.
When I turned 52, I received a calling to become an interfaith minister. As a two-time cancer survivor, I wanted to make an even bigger difference in the world — only I wasn't certain how.
Early in my application process, I was told I would make a great Celebrant. I had never heard the word, but it began a journey that changed my life.
After learning that being a Celebrant could combine my love for writing with my passion for people and their stories — and my desire to serve others during the most important times of their lives — I enrolled in One Spirit Interfaith Seminary and also the Celebrant Foundation & Institute.
I've done some really incredible things in my life: I won an Emmy for writing for the CBS daytime drama Guiding Light; I was editor-in-chief of Soap Opera Magazine; I worked at two major South Florida newspapers; and I owned two small businesses — an ice cream and tropical gift shop, and a paint-your-own-pottery studio.
Nothing, however, beats what I am honored and privileged to be able to do today.
That's my story. Tell me YOURS!
